With the first tip-off for 2023 only a matter of days away, the team at Sprig + Fern Brewing Co. are fizzing to announce their gold-level partnership with the NBS Nelson Giants, for the 2023 and 2024 New Zealand National Basketball League seasons.
As long-time fans, supporters, and – most recently – Beer & Cider Sponsor of the Giants, Sprig + Fern stepping up their support for the upcoming seasons seemed a simple choice.
NBS Nelson Giants Coach Mike Fitchett says, “Having Sprig + Fern Brewing Co. as a gold sponsor’s huge for us, helping us with the resources to be able to put a competitive team on the floor, who are striving to win titles and represent Nelson.”
To mark the partnership, Coach Mike Fitchett, along with players Tyler Marsh, Nic Trathen, and captain Sam Dempster visited Sprig + Fern Brewing Co. in Richmond to get hands on with the brewing process pre-season. In a sure sign of the work-ethic the team are taking in to the season, they impressed Sprig + Fern Owner & Master Brewer Tracy Banner, who said “they picked up the roles really, really quickly – you only had to take them through things once and they were away!”
Coach Mike Fitchett was more sceptical, claiming “they’re going to be basketball players for a little while longer”.
The NBS Nelson Giants season gets underway this Saturday, with the first game against the Auckland Tuatara scheduled for 5pm at Nelson’s Trafalgar Centre. When asked what he was looking most forward to in the upcoming season, Fitchett said, “celebrating lots of wins in the Trafalgar Centre with a nice cold Fern Lager”.
Spectators throughout the season will be able to enjoy a range of Sprig + Fern core range beer and cider at the bar, including Berry Cider, Chasing Hazy, Nectaron Pale Ale and Fern Lager. A non-alcoholic option in the form of Wingmate will also be available.
Tickets are now available for the first three home games of the NBS Nelson Giants season.
