An extra special brew to mark an extra special occasion.
On 21 September 2023, Sprig + Fern’s owner and Master Brewer, Tracy Banner, hits her fortieth anniversary of working in the brewing industry. Think about that for a second… you can brew a lot of beer in forty years.
In a departure from the classic beer styles Sprig + Fern is known for, we’ve concocted something a little different for this milestone; a dark beer that’s been happily aging and spontaneously fermenting in a Pinot Noir barrel in a quiet corner of the Brewery for the past few years. Our team had a field day picking the notes on this one, getting a plethora of aromas and flavours – from raisins, plums and berry fruits, to spice, whiskey, oak and sherry. No doubt there’s plenty more to be discovered by the discerning palate!
Our Barrel Aged Wild Ferment Ruby Ale gave us just under 300 bottles, so we have incredibly limited stock. Each bottle is individually boxed and stickered, and – if you can resist! – could be cellared further to see how it develops.
