Sprig + Fern’s multi-award-winning doppelbock has secured yet another strong finish, with a placing of sixth in the 2024 GABS Label Design Awards.

Following a public vote, which saw The G.O.A.T Doppelbock shortlisted in the top ten label designs submitted by New Zealand breweries, the judges today announced their final selections – with fellow Nelson-Tasman brewery Hop Federation taking out the top spot.

Judges had high praise for Sprig + Fern’s entry, noting “masterful illustration”, “striking illustrations”, and that “the goat looks absolutely regal and distinctive — this truly feels like the beer destined to rule them all”.

Corey Harbrow was the designer credited with the design of The G.O.A.T Doppelbock, alongside all other Sprig + Fern’s core range and limited release beers.

On the sixth place announcement, he posted to Instagram, saying:

“I’m very proud to have my artwork make it into the Top 10 for the GABS NZ Label Awards! Just getting past the public vote is a huge milestone, so thanks to all who voted.”

The finalist placement marks another accolade for The G.O.A.T Doppelbock, which earlier this year won a Best In Class trophy at the Brewers Guild of New Zealand Beer Awards.

A fleeting few cans and bottles of The G.O.A.T Doppelbock are still available in some stores nationwide, but the beer is otherwise sold out in Taverns and the Sprig + Fern online store. Due to the popularity of the brew, eager customers can expect it to make a reappearance in 2025 – with updates to come through Sprig + Fern’s Facebook and Instagram channels.
