We’re excited to announce that Sprig + Fern Mapua, Tahuna and Marsden taverns are proudly representing Sprig + Fern in two of the region’s tastiest food events: the Great NZ Toastie Takeover and the Burger Nelson Tasman competition!
The talented teams at Mapua and Tahunanui are turning up the heat in the 2025 Great New Zealand Toastie Takeover, going head-to-head with over 200 other eateries from across the country. Sprig + Fern Tahuna’s “Donner Lamb Toastie” is a crowd-pleasing creation with classic toasted sourdough, packed with tender lamb doner, sweet roasted red peppers, and a punchy garlic salsa. While Sprig + Fern Mapua’s “The Croq Mapua” features smoked chicken marinated in wholegrain mustard and honey, melted cheese, stacked with grilled courgettes on toasted sourdough.
Meanwhile, Mapua, Marsden, and Tahuna taverns are throwing their buns in the ring for this year’s Burger Nelson Tasman competition, showcasing the best of local food and hospitality. Sprig + Fern Mapua’s “Zingy Greenwave” features crispy golden beer-battered Gurnard fish fillet nestled in a soft buttermilk bun, layered with shaved lettuce, ripe tomato, and peppery rocket. Sprig + Fern Marsden’s “The Spicy Valley Clucker Burger” contains crispy buffalo chicken topped with creamy blue cheese ranch, crispy shallots, sweet crunchy gherkins and our house-made slaw. Sprig + Fern Tahuna’s entry is a Sticky Asian style Fried Chicken with Hoisin Bang sauce, Thai Slaw with pickled ginger and nori.
