With quiz nights recently coming to an end for the busy summer period, many of the sixteen Sprig + Fern and Little Sprig Taverns have been reviewing the contributions made to the community.

Between the dozen or so Taverns that hold regular fundraising nights between February and December, a contribution of around $240,000 was raised for local causes in 2024.

The beneficiaries of this total were a wide range of organisations, ranging from Life Education Trust, Youthline, local hospices, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Greyhounds as Pets, sports clubs, as well as many individuals representing New Zealand in various personal endeavours.

Daniel Tipping, Marketing and Communications Executive at Sprig + Fern Brewing Co., said:

“Around a month ago, when the first of the quiz nights started to wrap up, I reached out to all Taverns to get a rough gauge on how much they’d raised through their fundraising events in 2024.

“One-by-one they came back to me, and as I totaled up their amounts I was blown away. While many see the Taverns as a place to meet for a pint, maybe a bite to eat, the fact is that – yes, they are those things – but they’re playing an active role in their communities and using their venue to make a real difference to locals”.

Any charities, causes or individuals who wish to hold a quiz night at their local Sprig + Fern or Little Sprig are encouraged to make contact early in the New Year, as demand is often high and spaces are limited.

Taverns typically resume quiz nights around the end of summer, with exact dates posted to their respective social media pages. Information, links and contact details for all Taverns can be found at sprigandfern.co.nz/taverns.
