Sprig + Fern Berhampore was last week named as one of five finalists in the Lion Hospitality New Zealand Awards for Excellence, in the category of Best Local.
Per their awards criteria, Hospitality New Zealand defines Best Local as “hospitality businesses that deliver an exceptional offering to their local market [and] judges are looking for a food & beverage business that succeeds in being a genuine community hub.”
John and Rachel Sommerfield, owners of Sprig + Fern Berhampore, say they “are privileged to be nominated in the Best Local category, which we believe is the most fitting category for us.
“We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for our lovely community. For the past 19 months since taking over Sprig + Fern Berhampore we have put a lot of love and drive into our family business.”
The Berhampore Tavern is pitted against other finalists from Hamilton, Christchurch, and a fellow Wellington-based venue. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at The Pullman Hotel, Auckland on Wednesday 28 June.
A public-vote-based People’s Choice Award runs alongside the formally-judged categories, for which voting is open until Wednesday 7 June. The People’s Choice Awards winners will be named one night prior to the main awards, on Tuesday 27 June.
